Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are pleased to welcome you to the Invest in Russia Conference which is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Russia and the United States.
Over the last seven years the Russian economy has grown an average 6 to 7 percent annually. Russia recently hosted the G-8 Summit, and is expected to join the WTO soon.
With its huge natural gas and oil reserves, its gold and foreign currency reserves (now the fifth largest in the world), and its stock market index significantly increasing for the last several years (by 83 percent in 2005), Russia is a major emerging market.
Oriented to the needs of U.S. firms and individual businessmen interested in doing business or investing in Russia, the Conference will explore the current and future landscape of investing in Russia. Internationally renowned specialists and corporate representatives will provide insights on the emerging Russian market and inform the participants about the opportunities and challenges of doing business in and with Russia.
The mission of the Invest in Russia Conference is:
- to promote economic cooperation between Russia and the United States and also the involvement of the U.S. private sector in trade and investment in Russia;
-
to increase U.S. investments in the Russian economy, facilitate new U.S. exports, and encourage American businessmen to enter the Russian market;
-
to inform U.S. businessmen and investors about opportunities for investment in certain Russian cities and regions and to present to them concrete projects in Russia;
-
to inform Russian businessmen about the possibilities of financing their purchases of U.S. equipment and business projects in Russia with the help of U.S. governmental organizations and multilateral development banks;
-
to update American firms and individual investors who are currently involved in doing business in Russia on recent developments in Russian law regulating foreign investments, taxation, circulation of land, customs procedures and currency control;
-
to provide U.S. and Russian businessmen the opportunity to get acquainted with each other, discuss their projects, and establish mutually-beneficial long-lasting business relations.
We strongly believe that the Conference will bring Russia closer to U.S. businessmen and investors and that it will facilitate new business projects between American and Russian firms.
